Starting on April 23, the Chinese supercar BYD Yangwang U9 will be available in Gran Turismo 7. The BYD Europe page on LinkedIn and the game’s official website have confirmed the information. In addition, two other new cars will also be added to the game: the Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau (964) ’93 and the iconic Renault Twingo ’93.

Important changes
Alongside the new cars, the game will also receive a new mode: Power Pack Challenges. In this mode, players earn rewards based on the number of races completed within a given period. Rewards will rotate on a weekly basis.

Other updates include a new menu coming to the “Café”: a collection of Muscle Cars, as well as the addition of new events: Schwarzwald League – Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, Hypercar Parade – Yas Marina Circuit, and World Touring Car 900 – Autódromo de Interlagos.

A classic game that remains relevant
Gran Turismo 7 is a racing simulator released in 2022 and developed by Polyphony Digital. The game is the latest entry in the acclaimed series, which began development in 1992 but was not released until 1997.
But what exactly is the BYD Yangwang U9?

The car belongs to BYD’s high-end brand, Yangwang, and was unveiled in February 2024 with a price of 1.68 million RMB (approximately 234,000 USD). It is a fully electric super sports car capable of reaching 309 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds. In 2025, the hypercar set a record of 472.41 km/h at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany, becoming, at the time, the fastest electric car in the world.
